November 2006

The month that was *November 2006*: Maybe it is just the year drawing to the close or its just that out of the THREE dumps this month, two are ending their arcs (Flash, Astonishing X-Men). The third is Marvel Adventures: The Avengers. As it stands now, my Marvel list has gone down to four. With Ultimates having one (to end this volume), SM Loves Mary Jane having three (to #15), the four will go down to two. Of those two, Ultimate Spider-Man is off for the entirety of the Ultimate Clone Saga (and will be 'back on trial' after that) and even the last one, Ultimate X-Men is on its last breaths. Man, has Robert Kirkman destroyed this title or what. At this point, even Chuck Austen would be a step...make that two, up for the Ultimate X-Kirk-Men.

Even on the 'drop to a lower level' front, there are THREE this month. DC's Teen Titans just ended its own arc and instead of looking forward to the whole Titans East arc, I am thinking of forgoing it. Whatever it is, this title (as with many DC titles) has lost all of the 'looking forward' it had generated in in me with the OYL jump. Conan and Red Sonja too take a tumble. Unlike the Teen Tutus, these two have just gone down to make space for the jumps/new entrants.

As for the newbies, this month there are FIVE and unless things change, I am not too sure that except for one (Midnighter) that any of them will last past the trial period/first arc on my list. Those four are, Superman Confidential, GEN 13, Stormwatch PHD and Wetworks.

October 2006

The month that was *October 2006*: A lot of changes this month with eleven new additions, with Wildstorm leading with four (The Authority, Deathblow, Ninja Scroll, WildCATS), followed by Virgin Comics with three (7 Brothers, Ramayan 3392 AD, Sadhu), with Dark Horse (Rex Mundi), DC (Jonah Hex), Image (True Story Swear To God) and Vertigo (Loveless) joining up with one title each. With Wildstorm it was expected what with it's *Worldstorm* kicking off this month (with Wetworks #1).

However, even as three WS titles join the list, three more are getting ready to leave, with all three of WS's *swords-n'-sorcery* titles (Claw The Unconquered, Rokkin, Skye Runner) slated to end with the issue #6, for each one of them. All three have been cancelled.

On the Marvel front, have finally let go of MA: Spider-Man thus leaving MA: The Avengers, as the only 'Marvel Adventures' title on my list. This brings the number of MC titles on list to SIX and with The Ultimates (1 issue), SM Loves Mary Jane (4 issues) and AXM (also probably 1 issue) all slated to leave, that number is soon going to get halved or maybe even lower (Am not too sure about continuing for much longer with MA: TA either)

September 2006

The month that was *September 2006*: A pretty even enough month, though one with three new drops - Aquaman, The All-New Atom and Green Lantern Corps. Though not inherently bad, all three series (both writing and art) wasn't able to hold me past my usual three-issue trial time. Also, for GLC, three issues was all I could take of Guy Gardner and even my liking of the a couple of other characters wasn't enough to balance this buffoon's blowhardy crudeness.

As for the Wildstorm relaunches, tried out the first title out, 'Wetworks' and decided against picking it up. Haven't read anything about this series' characters and somehow they didn't appeal to me. That the art was a bit putting off, just hammered in that last nail. Surprisingly, did like Ninja Scroll #1 and will be getting it the next time around too.

August 2006

The month that was *August 2006*: A lot of changes this month. Well, lets see, the 'drops' first:

Falling: Three titles each from DC and Marvel lost their positions in my 'pull-rankings'. And although DC just had one major title (JSA Classified) with the other two (The Batman Strikes!, Teen Titans Go!) being JOHNNY DC, thus essentially only pulled for light reading, the Marvel side had two big titles (Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate X-Men) and just a single time-pass one (Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane). Point though, all three main titles (JSA Classified, Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate X-Men) might gain...its just that the current writers/arcs are not that catching.

Dumps: Finally gave in and let go of Catwoman and Ultimate Fanstastic Four (UFF is the third Ultimate title to lose this week.)

Gains: None of the gainers came from either DC or Marvel but from Image (Invincible, Witchblade), Vertigo (Deadman, The Exterminators) and Wildstorm (Rokkin)

As for new series, while 'Deadman' has gotten off to an acceptable start and has been added to the pull-list, while the much better 'The Boys' hasn't. The reason? It is just not to my tastes. Still, if you like the anti-Superhero/Costume-hating genre, get this title NOW!

Among the usual suspects, 52 saw two major 'closers' in the form of Booster Gold dying and Ralph Dibny (Elongated Man) going...well, going crazy. There was also a marriage, in the BLACK-Marvel family no less, with Black Adam and the newest entrant to the Black Marvel/Shazam family, ISIS, tying the knot.

Another thing, I most probably won't be reviewing any of the upcoming Wonder Woman issues. Have decided not to buy this title until Allen Heinberg finishes up and gets his stink off it. The only way there will be a review is if I can get a 'free' copy of it, 'cause there is no way I am paying anymore to ready anything by that man.

July 2006

The month that was *July 2006*: 52 is still rolling along albeit at a slower pace. Am happy to announce three new (full title) additions to my pull, Claw The Unconquered, Rokkin and Skye Runner. All three are from Wildstorm.

Have finally given up on the Birds of Prey. Its just too tedious and boring for my tastes. Same goes for Checkmate.

As for the BIG DC start, that of 'Justice League of America', nothing worth writing about that either. I know I will be getting this title but that's more due to habit than story quality.

June 2006

The month that was *June 2006*: New additions include the Wonder Woman, Green Lantern Corps and The Flash, all three of which failed to impress (me).

Ending their run were 'X-Men: The End', 'Ultimate Extinction' and 'Captain Atom: Armageddon', and while I am looking forward to the 'New' Wildstorm Universe, I couldn't care less about the X-Men's Ends or Extinction, both maxi-series coming to a prolonged to old-age and beyond end.

Among the drops, well, none for this month, although two titles have come that much closer to being dumped and oddly enough both titles are (essentially) counted as Bat-books. They are Birds of Prey and Nightwing.

As for moving up, Marvel Adv.: The Avengers moved up one step, going from 'On the Fence' to 'Medium Pulls'.

May 2006

April 2006

Ending week of '16 April 2006', I have dropped quite a few Marvel titles and won't be reviewing them for the foreseeable future. Why? Well, I am ending my association with mainline/616 Universe, because rather than wasting time and money on the (literal) crap and completely uncharacteristic behavior and depiction of the characters, I'd rather use it somewhere else....like maybe subscribing to DC's '52' or other titles like, Y The Last Man, Conan, Red Sonja etc.
