A 'Kick in the nuts'. Not mine mind you but of the person
responsible for the death of the two GLs in the last couple of issues, namely
Myrrt whatisname and Natu. That’s how this issue ends.
Fid I just say two? Sorry, I meant one. Meh, like and in case anyone ever even
suspected that Natu was really dead. I mean all the gratuitous killing of High C
(or at best minor B) list characters ended with Infinite Crisis…for a short
while anyway. In truth, it is all a ruse to draw out the murderer of that other
Lantern, Myrrt, one that left me wishing that it wasn’t so…clichéd. But hey, we
can’t win all can we?
And why I say that is because, for the first time since this series began it
gave a chuckle…in fact it gave me quite a few, and all of them coming from just
one panel, but two Lanterns, namely Vath (the perennially angry guy) and his
partner, Isamot (Lizard man). Searching for his seemingly awol partner Vath
arrives on Thanegar, only to realize that his buddy, his ol’ pal…well, you gotta
read it to believe it. Lets just hope that Isamot’s story doesn’t end up like
many a GL where he loses and becomes a Mr. Sulk-Candle, forever burning in his
guilt and/or memories.
Back to the ‘nuts’ comment (from the beginning), it came across as not
necessarily so much deserving (though I am sure that she deserves it) but more
of a ‘take that A-hole’, that the sister of the man (Betrassusian) who killed
Myrrt, and was for responsible for the deaths of one of the royal princes and
many others, finally ended up getting Myrrt’s ring. Natu’s new partner is
Princess Iolande of Betrassus.
Taking a moment for the ‘mildly’ juvenile comment of the review, was it just me
who saw that ‘ringing’ scene as (at least) mildly…umm, full of interesting
possibilities for the future for the new partners?
As for why I had said that the judgment of the killer was the ending of the
issues, it becomes clear while reading the issue, for not only does the whole
scenery and mood of the story change even the artwork takes a turn for (in my
view) the better. However, instead of any actual story telling this ‘epilogue’
acts more as a prologue for the next arc/issue.
Conclusion: Do my eyes deceive me or is that Tigra
(from over at Marvel) serving those drinks on Restoria? Man, talk about running
to get away from Iron-Pricks and his Prickettes.
