EXCLAMATION (Candid Reaction):
“Man, look at those neck muscles on Batman!!”
EXAMINATION (Story): Probably the only superhero Johnny DC title not on my pull list I picked up this issue for two reasons. One, I am sucker for “the whole team gets warped into one look” type of stories and two, and this rises from reason one, this time the warping is into Batman lookalikes. That all but sealed the deal for me. It turned out to be an enjoyable read from the Royal Flush gang to the Bicycle Riding Jellyfish.
EXAMINATION (Art): Unfortunately the
artwork still puts me off (it is the main reason why I
am not pulling SF). The characters are drawn in an
“action figure” style, complete with interchangeable
body styles/proportions, (except for Wonder Woman) and
unlike what the cover hints at the interior costume
changes are limited to minor modifications to give the
character a Bat-like look instead of a complete costume
change. I would have much preferred the former rather
than the latter.
PROCLAMATION (Conclusion): It was a nice
read. Too bad the character visuals still don't do it
for me. Still, given the target demographic...
