Just what happened to the Superman/Batman Annuals? A mediocre-ish
read on its own, coming after the first two Annuals...this one felt even more of
a step down.
As shown on the cover the story is about “Composite” (of Supes n' Bats that is).
Professor Ivo has a few pages, so do Tim and Lois...tho' their being there is
just for the "in distress" sake. Both of them end up getting kidnapped, tho'
given the being involved i.e. his components, they don't seem in danger at any
time. More like a (minor) inconvenience. We do not get to see much of
composite...tho' I did like the Two Face special appearance (in face of the
'two' faces). In addition, filling the pages were Firefly, Mr. Freeze, Atomic
Skull and Metallo.
Still, and maybe it’s just me, but towards the end I did feel kinda sorry for
composite. Heck, in a fantastical moment I even its be (funny? hopeful?
something?) if Supes n' Bats could have found a place/planet/dimension for
him...where he could live on. However, being the way things are in this “NEW”
Post-IC DCU...composite met a bloody end...at his own hands no less. On the
other hand, it was nice to read/see a Tim who was not in his Pre-IC duds but
also a Tim who was much happier, much fuller of life.
Chris Batista's art was enjoyable tho'.
