The “new” Teen Titans finally
finalize (give me a break, I am tired after a long day at
the office) their team, but before that there is a coming
together of all/both Titans, Teen as well as Terror.
Zatara is still obnoxious, Eddie (Kid/Red Devil) as
clueless/naïve/stupid/call-him-what-you-will and sparks fly
between Aquagirl and Static. The only (major) thing that
didn’t sit well with me in this issue is the oh-so-easy
casting of The Face as the angry-loser-semi-creep of the
group. I mean, come on is it not enough that the guy isn’t
going to score all that high in the looks department does
his ‘condition’ have to make him, well, not-that-good inside
too?
‘nyways, carrying on with the group(s) coming together, it
was nice to see Miss Martian return to the fold. Here’s
hoping that this stint of hers is longer than the previous
one. Ravager also makes a minor, non speaking, guest
appearance.
Onto to the art and although the visuals do bear more than a
passing resemblance to (previous) Teen Titans artist Eddy
Barrows, they are nowhere as close as well defined or
finished. Some panels are (much) better than others are and
this disparity throws the overall flow of the story for a
loop. Still, as a fill-in it does its job. New regular
artist Joe Bennett comes on with the next issue.
Conclusion: Even at four issues spent on
getting the new team up and running, the latest Teen Titans
recruitment was still much dynamic and fluid than the latest
JLA train wreck, or for that matter the Brad Meltzer “Lets
what the Trinity sit with their thumbs up their behinds”
bore-fest. RATING:
7.5/10
