Well, Sam does not die…as expected; Takahashi does…again as
expected. What is unexpected or rather seeing the tone of this book, expected,
is the opening revelation to yet another secret, yet another ‘everything
isn’t what it seems like’ subplot.
Coming in last issue, Morningstar and Ellis, each go separate ways here. While
MS takes charge of the gone-wrong mission, Ellis slips away after Wolf. Even
though he mimics his powers, Wolf discovers Ellis, just in time for them to be
attacked by a trio of…well, people from another side. The two of them,
working together, beat the three and while Wolf goes after them, Ellis returns
to his team, his side. When asked by MS and Samantha, he lies that the
injuries he got in the fight were from his confrontation with Wolf, he neglects
mentioning the other three. In addition, a couple panels more of a possible
‘intimate’ past between Wolf and Sam.
Lastly, there is another artist change (Kenneth Rocafort), and even though it is
good enough the art here does seem a bit more…cartoony, and isn’t as sharp as
the previous two pencillers (Marc Silvestri and Eric Basaldua).
Conclusion: Though the pacing is fast enough, I would appreciate
at least one (if not more) ‘Clear’ revelations. RATING: 7/10
