Savage Dragon: One Year Later…that is what this whacky issue is
all about. Continuing the jumble started by the firing of the ‘God Gun’ back in
SD #135. Now that Glum’s wish has allowed him to enslave every human being on
the earth, including the heroes, he has set about on his next big venture, that
to ‘modify’ the Earth so that it will look like his face (just like his planet
in Dimension X).
At the same time, a recuperated Dragon is trying everything he can to find a
foil to Glum’s glumness, all while worrying about the whereabouts of his wife
(Jennifer) as also his daughter (Angel). As for Angel, something I don’t get is
how come she was shown so grown up. I mean, I understand a year has passed but
still, she looks almost in her mid to late teens, if not an adult. Moreover,
what caused me to blanch was that not only has she joined forces with Glum but
seems to do so of her free will and with much glee (as she does/feel when she’s
blowing the brains out of fellow humans…that is those who are too tired to work
or object/oppose Glum).
What is the worst is that towards the end, the scene following the one where it
looks as if Glum has finally killed Dragon, Angel is shown to developing
romantic feelings towards Glum…and that they might be returned.
There is also a back-up story involving Sara (Horridus) and Powerhouse, one that
I liked much better than the main story. Conclusion:
Did we really need that Angel-loves-Glum twist? Come on, she’s a minor for cryin’
out aloud. RATING:
6.5/10
