This issue starts with Savage Dragon (and the other heroes)
trying to fight off/down Universo, the World Eater (i.e. Image’s cousin to
Marvel’s Galactus) to save the Earth and ends with SD about to have an attempt
made on his life by, well, by another Dragon. This Dragon is the same one who
came through the Dimension-X portal. Accompanying him is the Blue Lady (sorry,
forgot her name) who showed up in the She Dragon One-Shot Special. It was in
that same special that she met up with that other Dragon and the both of them
came through to this Earth.
As for the fight against Universo, even though the heroes are the one to get
their behinds handed to them they are not the ones to lose, all because of the
surprising and on time arrival of the recently returned Solar Man. Returning
after the destruction of the God Gun (Sgt. Marvel had used the gun to wish Solar
Man away because of his extremely violent methods of fighting crime/evil), Solar
Man isn’t happy with the current conditions i.e. the way that the other heroes
have let the world go to hell in a hand basket. Not only does he take down
Universo (rather easily at that), he also does away with his lackey, Mother
Mayhem.
Just in case all this and the revelation that the Angel that is here on this
Earth isn’t the Angel that was originally born here but in fact the one from
another Earth (the same one that this Dragon came from) that Universo destroyed,
SD also has to worry about the current whereabouts of his wife, Jennifer and
son, Malcolm. Moreover, just to add the topping to the cake that he finds him
in, the Big Fin-Head Greenie also has to bear listening to the (rightful)
accusations that he had Glum living in his house and that even despite the
repeated warning of Jennifer and many other heroes, he neglected/ignored the
danger that Glum could, would and did pose.
There is also a back-story involving Kill Cat and Kid Avenger an as with every
other story with KC this one too doesn’t disappoint on the fumbling-bumbling
factor. Conclusion: IMO, a better read than last
one this one lays out a lot of groundwork for quite a few plotlines for the
upcoming issues, all while keeping track of the crazy time and dimension jumping
continuity that is of Savage Dragon. RATING:
7.5/10 (Almost 8)
