Another month another Lady Death series. First previewed a
couple of months back (in the Lady Death: Dark Horizons one-shot), this
#0 issue kicks off yet another Lady Death adventure, one with one of her
companions, Satasha in tow. Whether Wargoth will join them remains to be seen.
Starting off by a ‘show’ for which they are getting paid, writer Brian Puldio
and artist Daniel HDR takes the two heroines into a mystery that is purported to
be the ‘deadliest enemy Lady Death has NEVER faced - Sacrilege!’ Even though at
first it might seem odd why the two of them would be putting on the
aforementioned show, it all makes sense later by the explanation provided later.
The money they get paid for appearances like this Lady Death uses it to finance
her war against Sagos (to dethrone him and liberate her mother from his grasp.)
It is the same necessity that ultimately leads the duo to ‘accept’ to deal with
the problem that rises, literally. However, with it (the problem) looking to get
out of hand, it looks as if very soon Lady Death will be in with/to stop it,
regardless of the money.
Lastly the art, and even with a new penciller (Daniel HDR) and inkers (Daniel
HDR and Newton Barbosa) on the scene, the participation of regular LD colorist,
Andrew Dalhouse makes it so that the final visual product is in the same general
vein as the other Lady Death and Medieval Lady Death stories. That said and even
as much I appreciate Daniel’s pencils I would if the sketches, (or maybe it the
inking) to carry more detail. Conclusion: Even
though it tends to get confusing to keep track of the various series and where
they fall on the LD timeline, (something about which I have lamented time and
again in my reviews of past series/one-shots), as an avid Lady Death fan (going
back to her Chaos Comics days) I am looking forward to this story too. RATING: 7.5/10 (Almost
8)
