The final issue of the three issue mini of this
Lord of the Rings style tale reads pretty much like the
final installment of the LotR books/movies.
The bad guys attack; the good guys first get pummeled and then
put up a raggedy-but-soon-formidable defense nee offense. It all
comes down to a final David-versus-Goliath-esque battle between
brother monk and the evil Dactyl. As expected the good guys
emerge victorious, but not without suffering some major
casualties of their own, including TunTun the female elf who was
a teacher cum foster-mother to the Elbryan. Closing on a hopeful
note we see E-man and the beautiful Pony riding away into
the wild blue yonder.
This mini hasn’t been particularly big on excitement and (in
places) has read like several disjointed snippets lumped
together, and this issue was not different. However, it does
have its bright moments, both in the writing and the artwork.
Conclusion: Not one for jaded old farts (i.e.
veteran comic readers), this mini might find a better audience
amongst the newbies. RATING (issue):
3/5
RATING (overall mini): 3/5
