Another month, another issue, another death. As with my reads of
the last two issues of this series, this, in as short a way possible, is my take
on the Snakewoman.
While the last issue has Jessica (SW) doing away with a character whom the
readers might have actually felt ‘positive’ towards (even if it were in the
pitying way), the one who gets off-ed this time around is someone who wasn’t
just asking but outright yelling for the horrible Snakewoman style death.
However, while both these issues are interesting enough when viewed/read on
their own merits, they don’t quite hold up in the overall scheme of things. For
that matter, not even the main plot seems all that intriguing now.
Yeah we get it; she is going to kill 68 men, and at least one per issue that
makes for almost three-quarters of a century long series. However, there is
nothing quite mysterious about it and even the new ‘snake-d’ Jessica sleeping
with her roommate’s boyfriend doesn’t quite make up for it.
As for the artwork, although similar to the style of the opening arc, the
artwork in this issue waivers quite a bit between the noir style of yore and the
cleaner crisper lines (ala, Dave Stewart’s Walk-In).
Conclusion: I am fast losing interest in this series and at this
point, in terms of intriguing storylines, would (soon) rank it the lowest
amongst my Virgin reads, (and I have all the Virgin titles, ongoings &
minis on my pull-list). RATING: 7.5/10
