X-Men: The End, v3 #6
Reviewed by: Bruce Logan

Whew. Finally. These last two weeks have brought a sort of long awaited relief, with not one but two, long running and incredibly stretched out mini/maxi-series coming to an end. The first one was the Ultimate Nightmare-Secret-Extinction triumvirate and the second one is this. And as with that series, I am very thankful that the long, dragged out journey is finally over and am pretty sure that I won’t picking up this (for a re-read) anytime soon….if at all.

Another thing that this series has in common with the Ultimate one is the A-1 anticlimactic nature of the ending. Then again, seeing that this one had a total of eighteen issues, it did one over by making its ending CHEESY. Oh, she became the President. How lame is that. It even surpasses the X-3’s ending.

Along the way, meaning the rest of the issue is a weird mixture of a little fighting, a lot of talking and some kind of religious/mythological/I lost track, mumbo jumbo. Tree of Life. What a way to bring an end, both to the series and whatever minute amount of interest remaining at this junction.

Every is happy. Well, except for the readers who got shafted…Bigtime. Me. I stopped buying it long time back, and would like to thank my LCS for being large enough to me to find a nook and flip through it.

Even in the end, one question remains. WTH is Logan doing alive on the last page? The rest of the ‘tree people’ seem to have ascended, even Uber-bi*ch Cassandra. Why not him? The only reason I can think of for this, just before everyone took off into the great beyond, our Canadian pal was pulled out by means of a mystical portal, one that dumped into that gawd-awful ‘Wolverine: The End’ mini of his. Other than that, I have absolutely no idea.

Conclusion: Yay, its over. Now I need to go take a pee.

RATING: 5/10
