Red Sonja #30: This is goddamn fill-in issue. Fill-in not in the way of a guest-writer, (tho’ it has that unless Marz is the new regular writer), fill-in not in the way of a guest-artist (tho’ it has that unless Moder is the new regular artist), but fill-in the way of there is no plot progression taking place here. Sure, Sonja moves further along on the Styx but that is more Charon’s doing that anything else. As for the meat of the issue it is for bringing in a (new?) hereto unknown character of the Red Sonja mythos. Bringing and taking out all in one issue. Still, even though there isn’t any vertical movement and not appreciable a lateral development it does make for a good enough time pass story.

Conclusion: ‘though not much for veteran/regular readers this is a newbie/passing reader friendly issue.

RATING: 3.5/5
