WILDCATS #7: The first half of this issue is the
continuation of the showdown fight from the previous issue. As seen on the
cover, the biggest (punny, eh!) part is that of Jeremy Stone aka Maul as he
faces off against Defile. The other Wildcats too have their hands full with
Defile’s minions including Zealot who (on threat of death) gets Decadence to
give up possession of Nemesis. Finally, Voodoo brings things to a stand still
and not only that but she even manages to get a cease-fire (of sorts) between
the Wildcats and the Deamonites. Recognizing (and Understanding) that Voodoo is
the choice to lead them, the ‘cats elect Voodoo leader…just in time for the
shocker ending where not one but two of their members pack up and depart for the
other, the more, ahem, Majestic side. As for the backup, eh, I mostly ignored
it. The character of Tao didn’t do it for me when he was first introduced way
back when and this latest return is no different. Still, an overall okay enough
issue. (7/10)
WOLVERINE: FIRST CLASS #11: This (together with the previous issue)
is my least liked is story of this series. Bitten by a She-Werewolf with the
hots for him Wolverine becomes into Were-Wolvie. He then (reluctantly?) joins up
with them only to be kicked down to the bottom of the ladder. As for Kitty’s
part, the ‘silver in the water’ subplot from the previous issue becomes personal
for Kitty when it is revealed that it is her father who is (indirectly?)
responsible for it. Cue the (anti-)climactic fight and Wolvie’s shedding of his
newly acquired “Were” status. Many thanks to the Ol’ healing factor, its not
just for bringing back Wolvie from death but also taking care of pesky
were-rabies bites.
These two issues were so full o' cheese that the cheese in them
would be enough for two extra-larger double-cheese pizzas, with extra cheese
left over for a Big-Mac. Good artwork though. (6/10)
