I haven’t played any of the Resident Evil
games. Ever. This includes the latest installment in the
long running franchise. So why did I get this comic?
Simple.
Even though I never got into tits gaming side I have watched
the movie(s) and am a fan, (though I guess initially it was
more due to Mila Jovovich), not only of the characters in
the movie but also of the setting, mood, premise or whatever
you want to call it. Still, given that this was going to tie
into the (latest) game I knew that there would little or no
similarity (at least character wise) between what I knew
from before and what I was going to experience here.
Sorry, did I say experience? Suffering would be a
better description.
Not only does the story here have no form or flow, being all
over the place, literally, even the characters are little
more than clichéd cardboard cutouts of what they could have
been, (with some proper attention). I guess being a game
tie-in negates the need of having some semblance of form or
function…at least in this case. The last game tie-in series
I read was The Darkness: Level, which along with
tying into the game also served as a kickoff of sorts for
the new (current) The Darkness ongoing. Somehow I
don’t see Wildstorm staying too long with the Resident
Evil-ers.
The artwork, although fairly mediocre is definitely much
better than what this story deserved.
Conclusion: There is no way I am putting my
money down for any more of this garbage.
