One more issue. One more issue for this month. One more issue
until the end of this mini (that started out as an ongoing). Take it anyway you
want it, one thing is set. Rokkin is one kickass story. If only Wildstorm/DC
hadn’t chickened out and retroactively made it out into a mini. Still, having
harped enough on that subject with the last two issues let me get on with the
reviewing.
The issue starts from where the previous one left off with Arness (accompanied
by Evy) on way to getting his hands on the ‘cold’ twin of the ‘hot’ sword that
he already possesses. As expected, there is a fight scene, one that goes by
easier than the first one (with Medusa), thanks to the power of the two swords.
After that, about half of the story is spent in developing further the budding
relationship between Arness and Evy. Kicking off with an attack by Evy’s ‘bad’
twin (the one that Vulmox’s witch revived), it goes on to the two finally facing
and giving into their feelings towards each other…just in time for an ending
that is bound to bring some serious shakeups.
However, before that, the two run into and join some surprising and much welcome
help, in the form of an army that has gathered to go up against and stop Vulmox.
Amongst the army is Arness’s old friend Rothian. Seen last in the first issue,
Rothian is also the General of the gathered army.
The artwork here although in the same style as before isn’t quite in the same
league. It appears that with just one issue to go, the art team is just going
through the paces and isn’t putting out the same quality and detail as with the
previous issues. Conclusion: As for the shocker
that mentioned before, well, that comes forward nowhere else than Demortia, and
that too in Vulmax’s stronghold...where it is revealed (by the ‘bad’ Evy). As
for what it is, for that go read the issue…or wait till next month where it will
play a bigger part (and when I will mention in my review for that issue). RATING:
8/10
