This is the first issue of this series that doesn’t have a fight
scene, at least not one in the ‘present time’. Any fighting that is done is in
flashbacks…well, that is if you ignore Skye punching the Green Knight and
smashing a statue over his head.
Green Knight? Well, for anyone who has seen the cover for issue #2 let alone
read it, they’ll know who I am talking about. And as for his story, it is told
here. Slightly reminiscent of the story of Clark Kent over in DC, this one is
set in a mystical-medieval setting and instead of the red-blue-yellow colors of
Krypton has green and gold, with green as the primary color. Hence the name.
Picking up from where we left off, this issue is mainly about the Green Knight
and how does he tie into this whole manipulating wizards and evil gods saga. The
island, it was once home to the Knight, Braylon and his (adopted) people,
including the love of his life, his wife, Gloria. Thanks to a jealous god and a
wizard ready to take advantage of the naïve populous, it was turned into a place
for abominations….and now a prison for the same creatures, a prison built by
Braylon himself (as instructed by the unicorn, Fate)
There is also a development on the side of the children, Minno and Gunold,
Skye’s niece and nephew. They’ve been taken to the god’s hideout or whoever he’s
working with/under.
As for the next issue, it looks set to have a nice big-fat fight scene and also
the formation of yet another alliance for Skye. But now, as I finish this review
I realize that I’ll have to wait a whole month for that, and not read it right
now, one after the other, as I have with these first three issues.
Conclusion: If for nothing else, just get it for the artwork. Even
more so if you are a fan of this genre (which as a general rule I am not). RATING:
8/10
