Wasn’t this title an ongoing or was it slated to be a mini
(right from its inception), that is something I am still not sure about. Had it
not been for solicits of the next issue being slated as the final one, I would
still be thinking of it as a monthly…bimonthly…uh, well, whenever it comes out.
That (and low sales) is the reason I think that led to this being wrapped up so
soon (unless it was a mini to start with). Talking of abrupt, even the at the
last page this issue doesn't end with a 'To be Concluded' but rather with a 'To
be Continued'.
Anyways, onto the story, which (given the revelation of the last issue) brings
about a change of dynamic within the rag-tag team, especially Skye and the Green
Knight. As for the other two, their part/siding is still not quite certain but
for now the duo (Glyph and Gor) seem to be on Skye’s side. Also introduced
(finally) is one character who has popped up before, but only in a panel or two.
Called Sinsha a.k.a. the Dreamer, this character’s ‘assets’ (and garb) might
even leave Skye feeling…prudish. Still, as with all others before her, writer
Allen Warner, in just a handful of pages, gives her a rather interesting and
intriguing personality.
With a change in colorists, the art too returns to its Pre-issue #4 levels, with
WSFX making an excellent alternative to Jim Charalampidis (#1-3).
Conclusion: Having enjoyed this series right from the start, I
would have liked to see more of Skye, Green Knight, Glyph, Gor, Sinsha and of
course that baby unicorn (from the first two issues) and am a bit put off/down
by the abrupt wrap-up. RATING:
8/10
